2007 Sahalee Players Champion Daniel Summerhays

SUMMERHAYS WINS 14TH SPC

July 6, 2007, Sammamish, Wash. – Daniel Summerhays of Provo, UT, dominated the field, carding a final round 5-under par 67 to win the 14th Sahalee Players Championship.

Summerhays, the 2007 Ping Cougar Classic Champion and All Mountain West Conference first team member, saved his best round for last.  In hot and dry conditions, Summerhays made five birdies and an eagle to card the lowest round of the week, 5-under par 67, and win by seven strokes on the 6875 yard championship layout of Sahalee Country Club. 

Summerhays, 23, will be a senior at Brigham Young University.  This is his first nationally recognized amateur victory. 

Summerhays and runner-up, Eddie Olson of Aptos, CA were the only two players to finish under par for the championship.  Olson finished at 1-under par 287.

Defending champion and local player, Kyle Stanley of Gig Harbor, Wash., finished in the 3rd spot after carding his highest round of the week, 5-over par 77.

The 15th Sahalee Players Championship is scheduled for July 1-3, 2008.
